Jug Island

Jug Island is another great warm up hike for hiking season. It takes about an hour each way depending on how many breaks you take and has both flat sections as well as some steeper sections. There is a decent sized beach area once you reach the lookout of Jug Island. Some people swim here as well as go kayaking and canoeing which is something I would like to try one day. The water is crystal clear here, but cold. This hike is located in Belcarra Park which is a great park for picnics. There is also a dock for fishermen which is enjoyable to watch. The two times I have gone to this park I was also lucky enough to see a seal poking her head up looking for leftovers. This hike is a great hike to do if you are short on time, but also if you want an easy accessible beach to sit at as a reward at the end.
